SUPPORTING LARGE, HEALTHY, DIVERSE AND PRODUCTIVE CROWN FORESTS

All forestry companies operating on Crown land must operate under the Crown Forest Sustainability Act (CFSA), it is the law. The purpose of the CFSA is “to manage Crown forests to meet social, economic and environmental needs of present and future generations.”  The purpose of the CFSA also specifies two science based principles of sustainability:

     1. Large, healthy, diverse and productive Crown forests and their associated ecological processes and biological diversity should be conserved, and

     2. Forest practices should emulate natural disturbances and landscape patterns while minimizing adverse effects on plant life, animal life, water, soil, air and social and economic values.

OFIA and our members committed to, and fully support the principles of the CFSA. For more information please visit: https://www.ontario.ca/laws/statute/94c25
